KEY CONCEPTS

Many concepts were learned in the first module, but the following concepts are the most interesting and important because they are the basis for successful level development.

Each concept has a correlation since these are taken as a basis to understand the behavior of artificial intelligence. When you are a beginner, it is difficult to adapt to the new world of artificial intelligence.

There are other concepts that are very important and are related to learning, but we must start with the following question

What is artificial intelligence?

As a student and teacher, I can safely say that I did not know how easy and fast it can be to create teaching material, in addition to applying it with a specific topic, age, or program. Also, be interactive and creative. Teaching practice will definitely be changed by use of technology which addresses the problems such as efficiency, workload among others that are experienced in the education sector.

Besides, AI contributed to the use of new tools by teachers in improving the teaching process. The AI could be used by the teachers to enhance the instruction, to formulate the course programming, to track the students' performance, and to design the education materials which are more engaging. These examples of AI instruments, e.g. educational chatbots and data analysis tools, will help teachers to give to their students more accurate and personalized guidance.

It is not only when the content is rendered that AI can be adaptive, but also when the content itself. It is specialized in generating educational media in accordance with the distinct requirements of individual learners and teachers. Say a student decided on a certain topic, AI could make learning modules that he/she could smoothly switch the main subjects around. This helps to bring about the curiosity or the sense of exploration among the student, being called creative didactics materials.

AI tools obviously destroy a part of the process, but they also have many advantages combined with their problems. Gender equity in obtaining devices and access to the Internet connection is considered one of the main problems, since for each of the students there could be unequal access to these means. Apart from that, it is of utmost importance that these tools cannot be considered as a substitute for human interaction for the educational process and should instead make the educational process more comprehensive.

It is expected that in the future in our country a more artificial intelligence environment can be developed in schools. The advantage is that the government has provided each student with devices such as laptops and tablets that are used to communicate in virtual classrooms.

In the future, this could be a great challenge in educating every member of society in the correct and ethical use of artificial intelligence.

Machine learning methods consist of four categories.

  1. Supervised machine learning
  2. Unsupervised machine learning
  3. Semi-supervised learning
  4. Reinforcement learning

Just as there are advantages to the use of artificial intelligence, there are also disadvantages, I would like to mention some of the disadvantages that AI can have.

*HALLUCINATIONS*

What are AI hallucinations?

Let's look at some meanings...

  1. AI hallucinations refer to the phenomenon where an artificial intelligence model, predominantly deep learning models like neural networks, generate output or perceive patterns that do not correspond to reality or do not make logical sense in a given context.
  2. Hallucination is the word used to describe the situation when AI algorithms and deep learning neural networks create results that are not real, do not match any data the algorithm has been trained on, or do not follow any other discernible pattern.
  3. An AI hallucination is the term for when an AI model generates false, misleading or illogical information, but presents it as if it were a fact. AI hallucinations are sometimes difficult to spot, because the grammar and structure of AI-generated sentences often come across as eloquent and confident when you read them, despite containing inaccuracies.

What Causes AI Hallucinations?

Some of the key factors behind AI hallucinations are:
  • Outdated or low-quality training data;
  • Incorrectly classified or labeled data;
  • Factual errors, inconsistencies, or biases in the training data;
  • Insufficient programming to interpret information correctly;
  • Lack of context provided by the user;
  • Struggle to infer the intent of colloquialisms, slang expressions, or sarcasm.

IMPORTANT...

We should not also forget that the AI algorithms can manifest its own biases such as the gender, race, and class stereotypes, which in nowadays society come from the inequalities. This could lead to the fact that the consequences and recommendations will be different compared to the requirements of a human. Hence, these biases are to be the issue that has to be solved first if an unbiased an fair AI is to be created.

  1. Hello Diana, I was reading your blog and I like the info you have added. I totally agree with your thought "I can safely say that I did not know how easy and fast it can be to create teaching material, in addition to applying it with a specific topic, age, or program" because I was in the same boat as you were. Evidently, AI is a great tool that we can continue using to creat enjoyable material for our English classes.
